Idli Kadai OTT Release: Here’s When And Where To Watch Dhanush’s Family Drama

After a successful theatrical run, Dhanush’s much-loved family drama Idli Kadai is all set to make its digital debut. Fans can now rejoice as the makers have officially announced its OTT release date and

platform. According to the latest update, Idli Kadai will premiere on Netflix from October 29.

Taking to their Instagram handle, Netflix shared the poster and wrote, “Get ready to have a blockbuster breakfast with Idli Kadai. Watch Idli Kadai on Netflix, out 29 October in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.” Fans reacted. One of the fans wrote, “Thank you netflix I was unable to watch in theatre.”

Dhanush Reveals Why He Chose Idli Kadai As Title

Speaking at the music launch, Dhanush opened up about the unusual title and said, “An idli kadai is a very important aspect of my childhood. We didn’t have any money during our childhood to buy idlis from the idli kadai in our place. So we started collecting flowers from the fields and sold them for money. My sister, cousins, and I would wake up at 4 am to do this every day so that we can have idlis from that shop. Nothing to this day beats the taste of those 4-5 idlis we bought with our hard-earned money. This film is my tribute to that place.”

The heartwarming family drama, featuring a fresh pairing of the National Award-winning actor and Shalini Pandey, has tugged heartstrings and grossed an impressive Rs 21 crore net in India within just two days of its release. The film opened on a high note, earning Rs 11 crore on its first day, with Tamil Nadu alone contributing Rs 10.35 crore. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, Idli Kadai added another Rs 10 crore on Day 2, maintaining its momentum across all languages.

Idli Kadai’s Storyline And Star-studded Cast

Made under the direction of Dhanush, Idli Kadai is filled with emotionally charged moments. Shalini Pandey’s relationship with Dhanush drives the film forward. Besides the lead pair, the family drama also brings together an ensemble cast of several well-known actors. The star-studded cast includes Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Prakash Raj, veteran actor Raj Kiran, Brigida Saga, Sathyaraj, Ashok Selvan and Parthiban in pivotal roles.

Bankrolled by Aakash Baskaran and Dhanush under his own production house, Wunderbar Films, Idli Kadai is a sweet family entertainer due to its emotional moments, and Dhanush is receiving widespread praise for the way he brings out emotions in every scene.

Talking about its technical team, the music of the film is composed by music director GV Prakash Kumar. Kiran Koushik handled the cinematography, while the editing work was done by Prasanna GK.
