Cricket Board (ACB) took to X on Wednesday (July 22) to confirm the appointment of Rahmat Shah as the new Test and ODI captain of the Afghanistan men’s cricket team. The 33-year-old right-handed batter, who has played 12 Tests, 128 ODIs and one T20I so far, succeeds Hashmatullah Shahidi, who resigned from the role on Tuesday evening.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who scored a century for Afghanistan in the first ODI against India last month at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala, has been appointed as Rahmat’s deputy.
