Popular folk singer Maithili Thakur and newly elected MLA from Bihar’s Alinagar delighted her fans on Sunday after a five-year-old Tamil cover of hers unexpectedly resurfaced and went viral across social
media platforms. The clip, originally recorded when she was still gaining nationwide recognition, has been widely shared on Twitter, drawing admiration for her effortless vocal control and emotional expression.
Despite recovering from a throat issue, Maithili decided to treat fans to a fresh rendition. In a new video, she sang a few lines from the same song originally performed by music composer and singer Sid Sriram.
The song, composed by D. Imman and written by lyricist Thamarai, has long been cherished by Tamil music fans, and Maithili’s renewed version has only amplified the nostalgia.
Sharing the update with her followers, she wrote:
“My throat isn’t fully okay right now, but one of my five-year-old Tamil cover song videos is going viral again on Twitter/social media. So I thought I’d sing a couple of lines for you anyway.”
