How Prince Yadav Used Virat Kohli's Tip To Bowl Him For A Duck: 'He Only Told Me…'

When Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosted Lucknow Super Giants last month, Prince Yadav emerged as the standout performer with the ball for the visitors in an otherwise disappointing outing. RCB chased down the 149-run target in just 15.1 overs, and Prince claimed three of the five wickets that fell.

After the match, Prince had a conversation with RCB superstar Virat Kohli, who had scored 49 off 34 balls. During the chat, Kohli offered the young fast bowler a piece of advice – guidance that Prince later followed and successfully used against Kohli himself in the reverse fixture.

In their second meeting against RCB, LSG posted a mammoth 209/3 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in a must-win game and

then secured a thrilling nine-run victory to keep their playoff hopes alive on Thursday night.

In the rain-impacted game, reduced to 19-overs-per-side, RCB were set a revised target of 213 and they managed 203/6.

Once again, Prince was their standout bowler, returning figures of 3/33 from his four overs.

However, it was his dismissal of Kohli that became the major talking point. Even Kohli appeared stunned for a brief moment.

Prince set up the wicket brilliantly, first bowling an outswinger that Kohli defended. He then followed it up with a sharp inswinger clocked at 140.4 kph, which pierced through Kohli’s defence and crashed into the stumps.

Kohli was dismissed for a two-ball duck. Prince leapt high in celebration, clearly pumped after claiming the prized wicket of the in-form batter.

Later, when asked whether the dismissal had been pre-planned, Prince revealed that he had used Kohli’s own advice against him.

“After the last match I was talking to Virat bhaiya and he only told me – till the time it’s (the ball is) moving around off a length, stick to that length. I did that and got the result in the form of his wicket,” the 24-year-old, who has played 16 IPL matches so far, told broadcasters on Thursday.

The victory was LSG’s third of the season in 10 matches and kept their playoff hopes alive. They next face Chennai Super Kings on Sunday afternoon.
