Prateik Babbar has landed in the spotlight after a video of him making an unexpected gesture towards paparazzi surfaced online. The clip, which is now going viral across social media platforms, shows the actor flashing his middle finger at photographers.

Times Applaud Trends took to their Instagram handle and shared the video which shows Prateik riding a bike and passing by. When he noticed paps recording him, the actor immediately showed his middle finger. As the video went viral, netizen reacted immediately and strongly. One of them wrote, “Isliye kabhi success nahi kar paya apne pita jaisa.” Another wrote, “माँ ने नाम कमाया बेटे ने गँवाया । अभी तो कुछ बना भी नहीं फिर भी एटीट्यूड देखो”

In a recent interview with Miss Malini, Prateik and his wife Priya were asked about their wedding controversy. To this, Prateik suggested that there might be more to the story. “People don’t know the truth. Some people from the industry know the truth, some don’t and the general public…” Prateik told Miss Malini and added, “But one day, everyone will get to learn the truth. In a story, or a book, or an interview, or a film.” Priya said that the experience made them stronger as a team and shared, “I think life has thrown a lot of tests right before we got married, just to see if we would last and we are like ninjas. I think every problem that has come our way, we have not reacted like ‘Ab kya hoga?’. We looked at each other and we got each other.”

Why Did Prateik Drop Raj Babbar’s Last Name?

Amid this complication, Prateik dropped his father Raj Babbar’s surname and shared that he will now go by Prateik Smita Patil to honour her legacy. He told the Times of India, “I need to be wholly and solely associated with my mother (Smita Patil), her name and her legacy. I don’t think any other name needs to taint that legacy, if you understand what I mean. It needs to just be her name and her legacy. That’s what I’m striving to be. I’m striving to be like my mother and not like my dad. It feels like a new chapter.”

Prateik Babbar is the son of late actress Smita Patil and actor Raj Babbar. Raj and Smita met while working on the 1982 film Bheegi Palkein. At the time, Raj was married to Nadira Babbar but eventually left her for Smita. However, tragedy struck when Smita passed away at 31 due to complications after childbirth, shortly after giving birth to Prateik in November 1986.
