Kapil Sharma has been a household name in Indian comedy for years. When The Great Indian Kapil Show premiered back in 2024 on Netflix, it initially drew a lot of attention and excitement.

seem to change now. The fourth season, which premiered on December 20, has struggled to maintain the same buzz, with viewership steadily declining.

The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 4 Faces Viewership Decline

The first episode of the show featured Priyanka Chopra, and while people expected it to do well, it failed to make the desired impact. The season opener failed to enter Netflix’s global top 10 list. According to Netflix data, it wasn’t among the top 10 most-watched shows worldwide during its release week.

In its second week, The Great Indian Kapil Show finally broke into the global top 10, but only at the eighth position. The episode, featuring the Indian women’s cricket team, drew around 1.7 million views globally, with an average watch time of 2 minutes and 16 seconds, and it was watched for a total of 39 lakh hours worldwide.

In the third week, when Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday appeared to promote their film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, the show once again missed out on the global top 10 list. Despite underwhelming global numbers, the show remained a hit in India, and consistently held the second spot on Netflix India’s top 10 list.

Episode-Wise Viewership

According to Ormax Media, the fourth season’s premiere episode with Priyanka Chopra attracted 1.5 million viewers in India. In its second week, featuring the Indian women’s cricket team, viewership rose to 2.3 million. The third-week episode, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, drew around 2.1 million viewers. While the show saw a modest improvement in numbers after the premiere, its overall performance still falls short when compared to the previous seasons.

With just three episodes released, let’s hope the rest of the episodes draw the excitement and viewership that the show has always enjoyed.
