Two brothers allegedly assaulted their elderly parents with wooden sticks after becoming angry over the sale of land owned by their mother in Maharashtra’s Pune district, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place on the evening of August 30 in Tarangwadi village in Indapur tehsil.
According to a complaint filed by 65-year-old Tukaram Raut, a farmer from Indapur, he and his ailing wife, Anjana, were out for a walk when their two sons arrived in a car.
Sons Attacked Parents In Middle Of Road
The brothers allegedly questioned their parents about why land registered in their mother’s name had been sold. They then allegedly attacked the couple with wooden sticks, according to the complaint.
A video of the incident, reportedly recorded by a bystander, has also been circulating on social
media. The footage appears to show the two brothers confronting their parents in the middle of a road, with their car parked nearby.

One of the men can be seen holding a large wooden stick and allegedly hitting his father, who is sitting on the road and trying to move away. The other brother is seen standing nearby with a stick. He does not appear to intervene to stop the assault.
Their mother, dressed in a pink kurta set, can be seen sitting by the roadside and pleading with the men to stop.
Tukaram suffered injuries to his back, face, thighs and shoulder, while his wife sustained injuries to her wrist and waist, police said.
The brothers allegedly abused their parents and threatened to kill them if the land deal was not cancelled.
The injured couple was taken to the Sub-District Hospital in Indapur for treatment after locals gathered at the spot and alerted police.
A case has been registered at Indapur police station against the couple’s sons under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the police added.
