Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, starring Emraan Hashmi, has made history by becoming the first Indian series to top Netflix’s Global Non-English Top 10 list. The show premiered on January 14 and has received
a strong response from viewers around the world.
According to Netflix’s official data platform Tudum, the series recorded 5.4 million views during the week of January 12 to January 18, placing it firmly at the top of the global list. With this achievement, Taskaree has crossed a milestone that even highly successful Indian Netflix shows such as Sacred Games and Heeramandi could not achieve.
Emraan Hashmi Thanks Fans for Global Success
Celebrating the milestone, Emraan Hashmi shared a message on Instagram thanking fans for their support. In his caption, he wrote, “Thank you fans for making Taskaree the first Indian title to reach #1 on Netflix’s Global Non-English Top 10 list!”
In a video message, the actor said, “A big, big thank you to everyone out there. This has happened because of your love. I’ve been reading all your comments and messages. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and love.” He added that the success proves “stories rooted in honesty travel very far.”

What Is Taskaree About?
The crime thriller features Emraan Hashmi as Superintendent Customs Officer Arjun Meena, who leads a determined operation to crack down on an international gold smuggling network run by the Chaudhary Syndicate. Set mainly in Mumbai, the series explores the lesser-known world of customs officers and the risks they take to protect the country.
The show is praised for its realistic storytelling and close attention to detail, showing the challenges faced by law enforcement officers working at Indian airports.
Beating Global Heavyweights on Netflix
Taskaree outperformed several popular international shows, including Korean rom-com Can This Love Be Translated?, which ranked second with 4 million views. The Indian series also surpassed Jujutsu Kaisen S3, Alpha Males, and The Queen of Flow. Notably, Taskaree is the only Indian title in Netflix’s global non-English top 10 this week.

Reacting to the achievement, creator Neeraj Pandey said the success reflects the global appeal of Indian stories rooted in real-life experiences. He credited Netflix for giving the series a global platform and audiences for responding so positively.
