India are taking on Afghanistan with an aim to move past the scars of a disastrous home season while also using the game to fine-tune combinations ahead of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka in August.
The last time these teams met in a Test, in Bengaluru in 2018, Afghanistan collapsed dramatically, losing 10 wickets between lunch and tea on day two and the remaining 10 between tea and stumps as India wrapped up the match inside two days.
