The final leg of South Africa’s India tour gets underway tonight when the two rivals lock horns in the first T20I of a five-match series at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium tonight. The honours have been shared so far with South Africa completing a historic clean sweep of a two-match Test series before India took the ODI series 2-1.
Among the several stars to watch out for will be India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah who returns to action after being rested from the ODIs. He was part of the Tests, picking eight wickets from two games at an average of 18.50 including a five-for.
Bumrah On The Verge Of Cricket History
Widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers of his generation, Bumrah has history in sights. The right-arm pacer, who recently turned 32, is one wicket away from joining
the 100-wicket club in T20Is. He will be the second Indian after fellow pacer Arshdeep Singh to get to the milestone.
The 100th wicket will also make Bumrah the first ever Indian bowler to complete a century of scalps in each of the three formats at international level. Bumrah has 234 wickets from 52 Tests, and 149 wickets from 89 ODIs while he has 99 wickets from 80 T20Is.
So far only four bowlers have completed the feat including Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, Shaheen Afridi and Lasith Malinga.
