Elon Musk’s social media platform X has come under fire this week after a viral post claimed that the blogging website does not let you copy video links anymore. In fact, some people advocated for the big change, suggesting they can’t even share the videos with other users on the platform.

The truth is that you can still copy video links on X and share with others like before. And the viral post that fetched

millions of views overnight was allegedly nothing but an April Fool’s Day prank, as we can still use the feature on the app/website and copy video links.

How it all started 

The whole chaos around X not letting people copy video links started with a simple post from one of the users and it quickly spread like a wildfire. It does feel like an April Fool’s day joke that has been set up for engagement on the platform which is a quick way for millions to earn money from Musk’s social app. 

Some of the accounts with premium badge sharing the news managed to get over 1 million views and some even saw the post get around 4 million clicks, which is a big reach for an information that is not at all true. We also independently checked if the option to copy video links are still available on X and they work just fine. 

How to copy video links on X 

X allows you to copy and share video links with other users, and you can do it with these steps: 

• Click on the arrow up button from bottom-right
• Click on Copy link and share with others
• You can also right-click on the video to copy the video address and share it
• X also lets you embed video posts in other platforms

Neither X nor Musk confirmed the hoax around the video links copy was an April Fool’s day joke but the post surely has made a lot of people happy and confused at the same time. Hopefully, all the rumours around the news have now been put to bed.
