Nagpur, Aug 9 (PTI) Activists advocating statehood for Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region said on Sunday that they would escalate their protest if the Centre and Maharashtra government failed to fulfil their demand.
Members of the Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) took out a march from Deekshabhoomi to Samvidhan Chowk in Nagpur, claiming they will succeed in achieving a separate Vidarbha state by December 2027.
VRAS leaders urged the central and state governments to take immediate steps to fulfil the long-pending demand for a separate Vidarbha and end what they described as injustice to the region.
The outfit warned that the movement would be intensified if its demands were ignored, saying the entire population of the Vidarbha region would rise in protest,
