Two people were charred to death after the car they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge and caught fire in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, officials said. The accident took place on the Bharwain–Hoshiarpur Road, a route known for its sharp bends and steep slopes.
According to initial reports, the vehicle lost control before falling nearly 150 feet into the gorge, where it burst into flames.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that a loud bang was heard moments before the crash, raising suspicion of a possible tyre burst while the car was in motion. However, authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the accident.
Horrific… this is exactly why it’s said to drive slow in the hills, because one small mistake can turn into something devastating
in seconds. A car fell into a deep gorge, and 2 lives were lost. Wish there were barriers, maybe those lives could have been saved.

By the time police and fire department teams reached the spot, the car had been completely gutted. One of the victims was found outside the vehicle, while the other body was recovered from inside the burnt remains.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Based on the evidence collected so far, officials confirmed that only two people were involved in the incident.
According to a report by PTI, the car, a Maruti Swift, is registered in Ludhiana, Punjab. An Aadhaar card recovered from the site indicates that one of the occupants may have been a resident of Tajpur Road in Ludhiana. However, the identities of both victims are yet to be officially confirmed.
Preliminary information suggests that the victims had visited the Mata Chintpurni shrine and were on their way back when the accident occurred.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the crash.
