New Delhi, Oct 27 (PTI) Maruti Suzuki targets double-digit volume growth in H2 FY27 despite a high base a year ago, driven by strong festive demand, a robust order backlog, and optimised dealer inventory.
“Subject to the capacity expansion, which is planned from January onwards, we are very much confident that we will be able to grow over last year’s H2 numbers. We will aim for a double-digit number,” the company told reporters after announcing the second quarter results.
In April-September, Maruti Suzuki saw its domestic dispatches jump 31.6 per cent to 11.46 lakh vehicles. The growth comes on a low base in the year-ago period, especially during August and September last year.
The automaker recently told PTI that it is expecting double-digit growth
in retail sales during the festival season from Onam to Diwali this year.
Though the passenger vehicle industry’s retail sales during this year’s Navratri fell sharply, Maruti Suzuki said its deliveries during the period were almost similar to last year.
The October-March period of the last financial year saw strong growth in passenger vehicle sales following the implementation of lower GST rates. The impact of the GST cut, which improved affordability, gave the much-needed boost for the industry, particularly for the entry and hatchback segment.
However, with demand continuing to remain robust post GST 2.0, the automaker expects to clock double-digit growth in the second half of this financial year.
Maruti Suzuki said its pending bookings increased to 2.7 lakh units while inventory across dealerships is around 16-17 days.
Meanwhile, the company expects its export growth to slow down in FY27 as the West Asia crisis has impacted the sector.
“Because of the crisis in West Asia, which is mainly affecting our exports, we are trying to recover those losses with exports to other destinations. But this year, because of that, we do not expect a big growth like we had last year,” the management said.
In the financial year 2026, Maruti Suzuki’s exports grew around 35 per cent to 4.48 lakh units. The company exported 2.33 lakh units in the first half of FY27, representing 12.2 per cent growth. PTI KMM RSN KMM BAL
