Star India and Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal found himself on the receiving end of some poor fielding from his teammates, as more than one catch was dropped off his bowling during the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The SRH batters took full advantage of the drops and posted a whopping 235.

The statistics paint an even worse picture for the Punjab Kings. A total of six catches have been dropped off Chahal’s bowling this IPL 2026 season, the most for any bowler.
Shashank Singh alone has been responsible for four of those drops, the second-highest tally by a fielder this season, just behind Naman Dhir of the Mumbai Indians.
On batting-friendly pitches like Hyderabad, bowlers rely
on fleeting chances and flashes of brilliance in the field. Chahal managed to create those openings, but the Punjab Kings couldn’t seize them at the crucial moments.
On a batting-friendly Hyderabad pitch where every chance counts, PBKS could not afford sloppy fielding, but that is what happened around Chahal. One of their key wicket-taking options this season, he saw his frustration boil over on Wednesday night.
Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan both got lucky after being offered chances off Chahal’s bowling, leaving the bowler frustrated. The first chance came when the former top-edged a sweep, sending the ball straight to Shashank at deep backward square leg.
Well well well, it’s that man again! 🙊👀

It was a catch that professional fielders are expected to take almost every time. But Shashank couldn’t hold on to the simple opportunity and to compound PBKS’ troubles, the ball slipped away and ran for four.
