South Africa’s batting all-rounder Dian Forrester has replaced Jamie Overton in the Chennai Super Kings’ squad for the remainder of IPL 2026. Overton was ruled out of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League on Wednesday (May 13) due to an injury suffered during CSK’s IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday (May 10) in Chennai.

The IPL took to X on Thursday to share an official release confirming Forrester as injury replacement for Overton.

“Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have picked a player replacement
for Jamie Overton, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a right thigh injury. Dian Forrester will join CSK for INR 75 lakh as a replacement for Overton. Forrester, an all-rounder from South Africa, made his debut in March 2026 against New Zealand and has featured in 5 international games, scoring 83 runs,” the release stated.

Overton’s injury is bad news for Chennai Super Kings. The English all-rounder was one of the best performers for CSK in the ongoing season. He played 10 matches for the Men in Yellow before getting ruled out of the tournament and scored 136 runs, in addition to taking 14 wickets.
Overton is CSK’s second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2026. In CSK’s last IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants, he picked up 3 wickets for 36 runs to bag the Player Of The Match award.
The news of Overton’s injury was first shared by CSK on Wednesday night. The Chennai-based franchise took to X to share a post in which they stated that Overton has a right-thigh injury, and he will return to the United Kingdom for further assessment and management.

Who is Dian Forrester?
Dian Forrester is a 25-year-old batting all-rounder from South Africa who made his international debut for the Proteas in March 2026 against New Zealand and played five T20I matches. He scored 83 runs in five innings and bowled one over in one of the matches but was not able to take any wickets.
Overall he has played 36 T20 matches and has 681 runs and 11 wickets to his credit. He was part of Rawalpindiz in the 2026 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and in six matches for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side, he scored 132 runs in addition to dismissing 2 batters.
He has also played 11 matches for Joburg Super Kings in the 2025-26 edition of SA20.
