To boost tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government will soon launch a 45-metre-long luxury cruise on the Gomti river.
The cruise, being developed by a Kolkata-based firm under a public-private partnership, will ferry up to 200 passengers between Hanuman Setu and Gomti Barrage. Each trip will take around 30 to 45 minutes.
The ticket prices will likely be ₹250-300 per passenger. Food services such as lunch, dinner and buffet will be available at an additional cost. While the upper deck will have an open restaurant, the lower deck will have a conference hall, VIP lounge and digital screens.
The crew, including a captain and five trained marine members, will manage operations and safety. They will brief passengers on safety protocols and even provide information
about the river and its ecology via a public address system. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) said there will be entertainment and educational activities especially for children.

According to Hindustan Times, LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar inspected the construction site at the riverfront near Hanuman Setu on Sunday and reviewed progress. During the visit, he directed the executing agency to expedite construction while maintaining safety and quality standards. The authority will conduct periodic reviews to ensure the timeline is met.
As per the agreement, the Kolkata-based firm has invested about Rs16 crore in the project and will bear the entire construction cost.
After the cruise becomes operational, the company will pay ₹16 lakh annually to LDA as revenue. This model ensures infrastructure development without a financial burden on the authority, while generating a steady income, HT quoted officials.
