The “greatest footballer”, Lionel Messi, will be in India from December 13 to December 15 for the much-awaited GOAT tour. The tour will be held across four major cities—Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and finally the national capital, Delhi. As the dates draw closer, the excitement among students, young footballers, and fans across the country is steadily rising.
Many students are even willing to skip school to witness Messi’s events in person. A significant number have already purchased tickets for the final show scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on December 15. While some enthusiastic fans have secured their seats well in advance, many others are still racing to grab the remaining tickets to see their global football hero.
Meanwhile,
students of Prometheus School in Noida have requested leave for the day of the Delhi event. Since the event is expected to begin around 1.30 pm, during regular school hours, several students expressed their eagerness. One student said, “I really like Messi, and I am very excited about his visit. I will skip school and go to see Messi.”
Aneesha Sahni, the principal of the school, has responded positively to the students’ requests and has officially decided to grant leave. She said, “There will be many more Mondays, but not a Monday with Messi!” She added that she fully understands the enthusiasm of young fans and is happy to support them in experiencing such a rare and historic moment.
While the Delhi event will mark the conclusion of Messi’s India tour, the most anticipated highlight is the Mumbai event on December 14. Messi is expected to walk the ramp at a high-profile Mumbai fashion show and auction his 2022 World Cup memorabilia for charity. This is the same 2022 FIFA World Cup where Messi’s Argentina lifted the trophy, and he was honoured as the tournament’s best player.
As the final event approaches, excitement continues to surge nationwide. Fans eagerly await the unforgettable scenes that are expected to unfold on December 15 at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
