Karachi, Aug 30 (PTI) Three brothers were killed when their vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province on Sunday.
The blast occurred near the Killi Bakhtair Khan area of Luni tehsil in Duki district, a senior police official.
The three brothers were killed and one of their relatives was injured when they were going to their agricultural lands in their pick-up truck, Duki Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mansoor Ahmed Buzdar said, adding, the vehicle was hit by a blast caused by a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unidentified militants.
The incident took place amid near-constant terrorist activities in Balochistan.
Since July, the violence has increased dramatically
in the province as security forces are carrying out clean-up operations against outlawed insurgent groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
On Thursday, security forces killed four terrorists in the Sasool area of Khuzdar in the same province.
Earlier this month, provincial Home Minister Zia Ullah Langove also came under attack, in which three civilians and six security guards were injured. The minister survived the attack.
The overall death toll has increased by 241 per cent in Balochistan, from 109 in June to 372 in July, a report by an Islamabad-based think tank said. PTI CORR NPK NPK
