Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday alleged that party leaders, including Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, remained in detention overnight and had not been given access to their lawyers, as Delhi Police moved the detained members to Sansad Marg Police Station.
In a post on X, Dipke said it was Ranka’s birthday and alleged that he had been in detention since morning without access to his lawyers.
“It’s Ashu’s birthday today, he is in detention since morning without any access to his lawyers,” Dipke wrote.
In another post, the CJP founder questioned why the police had kept the party members in custody overnight.
“They are still in detention. Delhi Police usually releases detained protesters by evening. But when it comes to
CJP, they keep them detained overnight. Why this extra love for CJP @DelhiPolice?” he wrote.
CJP Alleges ‘Secretive Conduct’
Earlier, CJP legal head Ratna Singh alleged that detained leaders had been taken by bus from Jaffarpur Kalan Police Station without the party being told where they were being taken.
“Why is there such a lack of transparency? This kind of secretive conduct raises serious concerns. We all have left from there with the bus,” Singh wrote on X.
CJP leaders have just been released from Jaffarpura Police Station, yet the police have not informed us where they are being taken. Why is there such a lack of transparency?

Around 30-40 CJP supporters staged a late-night sit-in outside Jaffarpur Kalan Police Station in Delhi’s Dwarka district, demanding the release of detained members and raising slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad”.
Visuals shared by IANS showed police personnel taking CJP members away in a bus as supporters protested outside the station.
Detentions Follow After Jantar Mantar Breach
Das, Ranka and several other CJP members were detained early Tuesday after entering the barricaded Jantar Mantar area and raising slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, despite prohibitory orders being in force.
The site had recently been removed from the list of designated protest venues. The CJP called its action as an attempt to reclaim its right to protest and demanded Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls.
According to the party, around 11 members were detained on Tuesday. A senior police officer had earlier said some protesters were taken to Jaffarpur Kalan Police Station.
The CJP has vowed to continue its agitation, asserting that “protest at designated protest spot is not disturbing peace”.
