Purnea (Bihar), Aug 12 (PTI) Three children, including two cousins, drowned while bathing in a river in Bihar’s Purnea district on Wednesday, police said.
The incident took place near a brick kiln in Thari Rajo panchayat in Dhamdaha police station area.
The children from Chandrahi-Shankar Chowk area had gone to bathe in the river around 2 pm but drowned, officials said.
Locals retrieved them and tried to revive them but they had already died by then, they added.
The deceased have been identified as Rahul Kumar (14), Baiju Kumar (14) and Raj Kumar (15). Rahul and Baiju were cousins.
Dhamdaha Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) Anupam Kumar said, “The administration is collecting details of the victims’ families, after which financial assistance would be
provided to them at the earliest.” Officials concerned have been directed to submit an inquiry report on the drowning incident.
