The world of Stranger Things may have reached its story finale, but Netflix is not quite done with Hawkins yet. Fans will soon get a deeper look into how the final chapter of the popular series came together,
with a special documentary set to premiere this month.
Netflix has announced a behind-the-scenes film titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5. The documentary will start streaming on January 12 and promises to take viewers inside the making of the show’s last season, which marked the end of a decade-long journey for the cast and creators.
A Closer Look At The Final Season
The documentary is directed by Martina Radwan and follows the cast and crew during the filming of Stranger Things Season 5. According to Netflix, it captures the hard work, long days, and creative effort that went into wrapping up the series. The film was produced by Angus Wall, Terry Leonard and Kent Kubena under MakeMake Productions.
Radwan spent nearly a year on set while the final season was being filmed. In a statement, she said she felt grateful to be given close access to the entire process. She shared that being able to watch the Duffer Brothers and the team bring the show to life in real time was a special experience. Radwan also said she wished she could have documented earlier seasons, as everyone involved openly shared their stories from years of working together.
Why The Duffer Brothers Wanted This Documentary
Stranger Things was created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer and produced by Upside Down Pictures along with 21 Laps Entertainment. The brothers said the idea for the documentary came from their own love for behind-the-scenes films.
The Duffers recalled growing up in North Carolina and dreaming of becoming filmmakers, even when Hollywood felt far away. They said watching behind-the-scenes documentaries of The Lord of the Rings helped them understand how big films are actually made. Over time, they noticed that this kind of storytelling had almost disappeared.
They explained that One Last Adventure is their way of bringing that format back. They described the documentary as a chance for fans, and anyone curious about filmmaking to see how a large-scale show like Stranger Things is created, from the stress to the teamwork.
What Fans Can Expect
Netflix has also released a trailer for the documentary, offering emotional moments from the set and heartfelt reactions from the cast as they wrap up the series.

The final season itself, released on New Year’s Eve, runs for 128 minutes (over 2 hours) and is set in the fall of 1987.
In Season 5, the group comes together one last time to stop Vecna, knowing the stakes have never been higher. For fans not ready to say goodbye, the documentary offers one final walk through the world of Stranger Things.
