Raisen, Sep 5 (PTI) A 23-year-old computer teacher was allegedly molested by a history-sheeter, who was out on bail in a rape case, in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district on Saturday, which coincided with Teachers’ Day, before a student rescued her, police said.
The incident took place around 9 am at a computer centre in Begamganj town, about 80 km from the district headquarters, when the teacher had gone to open the centre, they said.
According to Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Sonali Gupta, the teacher had the centre’s keys and was alone when accused Akash Kushwaha (27) entered the premises and allegedly caught hold of her and behaved indecently with her.
The woman raised an alarm, following which 25-year-old student Raj Thakur, who had
come to attend a computer course at the centre, intervened, she said.
Kushwaha allegedly assaulted both the teacher and the student and fled the spot after people gathered there on hearing their screams, the SDOP said.
After being alerted, police registered a case and launched a search. Kushwaha was arrested within half an hour from a house while attempting to flee, the official said.
Begamganj police station house officer Rajiv Uike said Kushwaha was a history-sheeter and had five criminal cases registered against him in the past.
Last year, he was arrested in connection with the alleged abduction and rape of a girl, police said. He was recently released from jail on bail, he added.
He said stringent action would be taken against Kushwaha, who has been booked for molestation, assault and other offences, in view of his criminal record. PTI COR LAL NR
