Star West Indies and Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer Rovman Powell pulled off a blinder to dismiss Lucknow Super Giants’ Mitchell Marsh during their game on Sunday, April 26, at the Ekana Stadium, even as he escaped a major injury scare while taking the catch.
Powell backpedalled, adjusted his position and circled under the ball, keeping his eyes fixed until the last moment before diving to complete a brilliant catch. Marsh was dismissed for just two runs off as many balls, leaving the Super Giants reeling at 8/1.
The dismissal came in the second over of LSG’s chase, when Vaibhav Arora dug in a short-pitched delivery outside off. Marsh went back looking to pull but ended up mistiming it towards mid-on.
The ball lobbed high into the air and Powell
timed his dive to perfection, reaching it at the last moment to complete a clean two-handed catch. He landed on his left arm and received attention from the physio before walking off in visible discomfort, though he was later spotted on the sidelines in the following over.

“It is good that he is (Powell) not injured and we are still having him in the back end to be out there to share his experience and also his fielding ability will count as well,” Dwayne Bravo said while speaking to the host broadcasters.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan’s 5/23, a personal best in the format for the left-arm pacer, ripped through an already struggling KKR batting lineup as he claimed the key wickets of Ajinkya Rahane, Tim Seifert, Cameron Green, Powell and Anukul Roy.
Rinku Singh (83* off 51 balls) brought up a well-paced fifty and took on Mohammed Shami in the 19th over, smashing him for 6, 4 and 4. He then launched a brutal assault on spinner Digvesh Rathi, hitting four successive sixes, as KKR piled on 43 runs in the final two overs to cross the 150-run mark.
