Fans arriving for Charlie Puth’s latest tour stop were met with disappointing news after the singer was forced to make a last-minute change to his schedule. The musician, who has been travelling across the country on his Whatever’s Clever! tour, shared an important health update just hours before he was due to take the stage.
Puth announced on June 6 that his Orlando concert would no longer go ahead, explaining that he had been dealing with an illness for several days and needed time to recover.
Taking to Instagram Stories, the 34-year-old singer expressed his regret over the cancellation and explained why he had made the difficult decision.
“I am so devastated to do this, but I have to cancel tonight’s show,” Puth wrote.
The singer added that doctors
had advised him to take a break rather than risk affecting additional dates on the tour.
“I’ve been sick for the last few days and am now being instructed to rest or else risk canceling more dates on this tour.”
Puth also apologised to fans who had planned to attend the performance, stressing that he never wants to deliver anything less than his best on stage.
“Performing for you all each night means everything to me, and you all deserve the best,” he continued. “I’m heartbroken, but I physically am unable to perform. Without a voice, I can’t give you guys the show you all deserve. I’m so sorry, this was not an easy decision to make, but I hope to see you all soon when I am well again.”
Shortly after the announcement, Orlando’s Addition Financial Arena confirmed that the cancelled concert would not be rescheduled. Ticket holders were advised to contact their original point of purchase regarding refunds.
Despite the setback, the singer is currently expected to resume touring on June 9 with a scheduled performance at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater.
The health scare comes during a particularly eventful year for Puth. Earlier this year, he spoke candidly to Rolling Stone about making major lifestyle changes and focusing on living more authentically.
“I don’t drink at all,” he said. “I think it clouds my judgment.”
Reflecting on personal growth, he added, “It’s hard to describe. But after years of surrounding myself with the wrong things and saying the wrong things, it’s profound when it just all comes to a screeching halt one day at 30 years old in New York City.”
Just a few months later, Puth and his wife Brooke Sansone Puth celebrated another major milestone when they welcomed their first child together, a son named Jude.
Sharing the happy news on Instagram, the couple wrote, “Hey Jude 🩵 3.13.26,”
The post featured a series of family photographs, including images of their newborn wrapped in a blanket, intimate hospital moments and sweet snapshots of Puth holding his baby boy.
For now, fans will be hoping the singer makes a speedy recovery and returns to the stage soon.
