Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may have missed out on a second century this season, but the 15-year-old still scripted history while wreaking havoc against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Jaipur on Tuesday night. Sooryavanshi smashed 10 sixes and seven boundaries in a blistering 38-ball 93, becoming the first Indian batter to hit 50 or more sixes in a single IPL season.
His 10 sixes in the game took his tally to 53 maximums this season, helping him surpass Andre Russell, who had struck 52 sixes for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2019.

Rajasthan Royals rode on a breathtaking 38-ball 93 from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to secure a comfortable seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants, keeping their playoff hopes alive. The 15-year-old prodigy hammered 10 sixes, dismantling the chase of 221 with astonishing ease.
Sooryavanshi missed out on a century by just seven runs but had already sealed the outcome. His fearless hitting turned a challenging chase into a one-sided contest, overshadowing Mitchell Marsh’s superb 96.
With 14 points, RR must beat the Mumbai Indians in their final league game to qualify.
Earlier, Marsh led LSG’s charge, adding 109 runs with Josh Inglis (60) in a blistering start. However, despite the strong total of 220/5, LSG’s bowling lacked penetration.
Dhruv Jurel played the perfect finishing role with an unbeaten 53, but the highlight remained Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary knock. His ability to dispatch even good deliveries underlined his immense potential, leaving fans and experts in awe.
