A 52-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly driving his car for nearly a kilometre with a man hanging onto the bonnet.
Halasuru police said the incident took place on Bengaluru’s Old Airport Road at around 12:45pm. It was triggered by a minor collision between a goods vehicle and a car. Police said the two drivers got into a heated argument after their vehicles reportedly touched though there was no major damage.
Deccan Herald quoted the police saying that the accused, identified as Suresh, a resident of Pulakeshi Nagar. During the incident, Suresh’s wife was also inside the car and the vehicle is registered in her name. The victim was identified as Nanjunda, a goods vehicle driver.
According to NDTV, a goods vehicle and the SUV made
contact in the Halasuru area and even though there was barely any damage, the two drivers began having a heated argument. After the argument escalated, Nanjunda allegedly climbed onto the bonnet of the car and the SUV driver drove off with the man still on the car.
A complaint has been registered at the Halasuru police station, and further investigation is underway.
The incident was captured on a dashcam of another vehicle and it went viral on social media.
Deccan Herald reported that soon after the incident, Halasuru police arrested Suresh, who was driving the SUV (KA-03-NN-4501), and during verification, police found that the driver is reportedly a repeat offender in rash driving cases and other violations of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Recently, a similar incident took place wherein a body builder hung onto the window of a car. He died when the driver crashed his speeding car to the tree in Hebbagodi police station limits.

Meanwhile, two children were killed in a tragic road accident involving a school bus near Thanisandra in north Bengaluru on Wednesday morning, police said. The victims were identified as Varsha (2) and Bhanu (4), the daughter and niece of a city police constable. The incident occurred around 8 am near the police quarters under the jurisdiction of the Hennur Traffic Police Station.
According to police, constable Naganagowda, attached to the City Armed Reserve, was riding his two-wheeler to buy milk, with his daughter Varsha and his elder brother’s daughter Bhanu seated on the bike. During school pickup hours, a school bus that was taking a turn allegedly rammed into the stationary motorcycle.
