Ranchi, Sep 12 (PTI) A 25-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his friends following an altercation during a party in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district, police said on Saturday.
Three persons have been arrested, including the prime accused, and the murder weapon seized, a senior officer said.
The incident took place near Masna area on Tuesday following a monetary dispute over the party, he said.
The deceased has been identified as Rajan Tirkey, a resident of Chama village.
“We have arrested three persons, including the main accused, on Friday following the recovery of the victim’s body. All three are aged between 19 and 25 years. Police seized a pistol, a cartridge, an empty shell, three mobile phones and a motorcycle from their possession. The accused have confessed
to the murder,” DSP (Headquarters-1) Amar Kumar Pandey told PTI.
In a fit of rage, the prime accused shot Tikey with a pistol, resulting in his immediate death, Pandey said.
Subsequently, he with the help of his two friends took the body on a motorcycle and threw it into a river, another officer said.
The prime accused has criminal antecedents, he added. PTI RPS RBT
