Sonakshi Sinha once again opened up about her weight-loss journey. The actress once weighed over 95 kilos before making her Bollywood debut in 2010 in the Salman Khan starrer movie Dabangg. Ever since
she lost 30 kgs, the diva has been inspiring her fans with her balanced diet and fitness regimes.
In a recent conversation, Sonakshi Sinha admitted that she never lost weight to become an actor. Instead, the actress admitted that in her pursuit of becoming healthy, she started clean and balanced eating. “Weight loss was very difficult for me because I was always an overweight kid,” she told Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their YouTube podcast.

She continued, “It took me 2.5 years (to lose weight). I realised it only during my college.” Interestingly, the 38-year-old also revealed, “I didn’t do it for vanity or to become an actor. I did it for health reasons. I was 18 and I couldn’t run on the treadmill for more than 30 seconds. That struck me once very badly. And I was like, I don’t want to live this unhealthy life.”

She stressed the importance of exercise and shared, “I used to go to the gym. I used to do cardio, weight training, and I tried a variety of things. I used to do yoga. Eventually, I started Pilates.”

Sonakshi, a true-blue foodie, also admitted that maintaining a healthy weight is challenging for people like her. However, keeping in mind that “balance” is important, the Rowdy Rathore actress shared, “I have always maintained a healthy body image. I don’t want to be someone who can’t inspire other girls. I didn’t have that role model when I was growing up. Your health and happiness are everything that matters.” Sinha’s candid admission highlighted that building strength is more essential than losing weight.

When Sonakshi Sinha Talked Highly About Performing Pilates
The Naam Hai Akira actress has often advocated for staying fit while giving a sneak peek into her intense workout regimen. In a 2018 conversation with Vogue India, Sonakshi revealed that her go-to routine includes 30 minutes on the Stairmaster, followed by 20–25 minutes of brisk walking.
She also swears by Pilates, mentioning, “There are thousands of exercises that you can do on those machines, so it’s never boring; you can do something new every day… I love working out on the Pilates reformer,” she said. Pilates, she noted, has improved her flexibility, core strength, and overall endurance.
Further, talking about her diet habits, the actress revealed that she follows a protein-rich plan. Although she avoids fried foods and sugar, she admitted, “I’ve stopped eating bread completely unless it’s in the form of a pizza. I usually finish my carb intake by lunch, and for dinner it’s mainly protein,” she shared. For snacks, she indulges in almonds, walnuts, or bananas.
