The much-anticipated spy drama Patriot, starring Mohanlal, Mammootty and Nayanthara, has been postponed, leaving fans eagerly awaiting an official update on its new release date. The film, which marks a rare collaboration between the two superstars, was initially expected to hit theatres on April 23, but the makers have now decided to push back its release.
Taking to his Instagram handle, producer Anto Joseph confirmed that the film’s release has been postponed. In a note penned in Malayalam, the producer wrote, “Dearly beloved, we are working hard to bring Patriot to you in the best possible quality. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are compelled to postpone the film’s release from the originally scheduled date of April 23 by a few
days.”

Second Look Poster Out
Recently, makers unveiled the second look poster from the film, and it has already set social media on fire. Featuring Malayalam cinema’s two biggest icons, the action-packed visual promises a high-octane cinematic spectacle. Taking to his Instagram handle, Mohanlal shared the posters in almost all major languages. The intense poster showcases Mohanlal in a fierce, commanding avatar, aiming a rifle. Mammootty also appeared battle-ready, exuding power and grit. The poster hints at a gripping narrative filled with action and edge-of-the-seat moments.
Earlier, in February, makers shared a BTS video. The BTS video released had visuals shot on an airbase, filled with choppers, planes and fighter aircraft. The BTS video also showed glimpses of Mohanlal and Mammootty on the airbase, highlighting the fact that the two legends of Malayalam cinema were coming together after 18 years. One interesting visual showed Fahaadh Faasil sitting inside the cockpit of a fighter aircraft with a professional explaining to him about the controls of the aircraft. It may be recalled that actor Fahadh Faasil had recently disclosed that he plays the villain in the film.
What’s next for Mohanlal and Mammootty?
Mohanlal has many films lined up in his kitty. He has also been shooting back-to-back. In 2025, he completed the shoot of Drishyam 3, which is one of the most talked-about films. Then he also resumed shooting for Jailer 2. And currently, he has been busy with the shoot of L366. Taking to his Instagram handle, Mohanlal shared the photos and mentioned the photographer’s name. His fresh moustache look has left fans excited. They are dropping fire emojis in the comment section. Recently, the actor also shared the first look in which he revealed he is playing a cop role in the film. Many details of the film have not been shared.
While Mammootty will be sharing screen space with Dhanush in D55. He has also announced his next film titled Padayaatra. The other details of the film have not been shared till now.
