Ahmedabad, May 5 (PTI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday invited industry leaders from Gujarat to invest in his state, stressing that it provides an opportunity and long-term competitive advantage with its strategic location, supportive ecosystem and skilled workforce.
Majhi was speaking at the Odisha Investors’ Meet in Ahmedabad during his three-day business trip to Gujarat.
“We are here with a clear message that Odisha is ready for the next chapter of India’s industrial growth. We invite industry to explore, invest, and grow with us as we build a future-ready industrial ecosystem,” he said.
Majhi said Gujarat has powered India’s west and Odisha is now ready to power India’s east offering scale, speed, and strategic access to the
next frontier of growth.
For industries looking ahead, Odisha presents not just an opportunity, but a long-term competitive advantage, he said.
Gujarat has long been a leader in textiles, and Odisha is emerging strongly with a supportive ecosystem, skilled workforce, and policy-driven growth, he added.
Odisha is not defined by a single sector, CM Majhi said, adding that the government was building integrated industrial ecosystems that enable industries to invest, expand, innovate, and grow sustainably over the long term.
He noted that his state is advancing in the sectors such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, electronics manufacturing, tourism and logistics.
The CM said Odisha’s geography is a strategic advantage.
“With a long coastline and operational ports, we offer direct access to the Bay of Bengal and the Indo-Pacific growth corridor, creating a strong platform for global connection and trade,” he said.
Majhi assured the industry leaders that there will be swift proposal approvals and faster implementation of the projects under the Odisha government.
He also held round-table conferences with industry leaders in Ahmedabad ahead of addressing the gathering.
Two sectoral roundtables, including a Textile Round Table, and direct interactions with industry leaders were held to discuss investment opportunities, policy support, and facilitation mechanisms, an official release stated.
During sectoral interactions, particularly in textiles, CM Majhi highlighted the deep cultural and economic connect between Odisha and Gujarat.
“From the sacred land of Lord Jagannath in Puri to the revered Dwarka of Gujarat, our states share enduring cultural and civilisational ties,” the release quoted him as saying.
The Odisha CM was accompanied by industries, skill development and technical education minister Sampad Chandra Swain, chief secretary Anu Garg, additional chief secretary of industries department and senior officials from the state government.
Swain stated that Odisha is steadily positioning itself as a future-ready industrial hub, supported by strong infrastructure, port-led logistics, stable policies, and a facilitation-driven approach aimed at enabling sustainable and inclusive growth.
The Odisha government will continue its focused investor outreach to strengthen industry connection and accelerate industrial development, he said. PTI KVM PD NP
