Patna, Aug 30 (PTI) Janshakti Janata Dal president Tej Pratap Yadav on Sunday charged Bihar minister Sanjay Kumar Singh with molesting a female hotel staff member during a recent Delhi trip.
Singh has not responded to Yadav’s charge so far, but when he was asked on Saturday about the alleged incident, about which rumours have been afloat on social media, he termed it as an attempt to “defame” the NDA government.
He had defeated Yadav in the Mahua assembly constituency in the elections held last year.
Yadav, who is a former minister himself, levelled the allegation at a press conference, claiming that “he was obtaining the video footage of the molestation, which will be shown to the people of Bihar”.
The maverick leader, who got expelled from the
RJD a year ago by his father Lalu Prasad, also claimed, “Sanjay Kumar Singh spent a sum of Rs 25 lakh to hush up the matter”.
Yadav sought a “fair investigation into the serious matter”.
The state minister, who belongs to Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) headed by Union minister Chirag Paswan, had on Saturday said, “It is just a ploy to defame the state government. I would prefer death to such reprehensible conduct”.
The LJPRV leader had also added, “I challenge anybody to come up with a video or any other proof that I have behaved in such a disgusting manner. I will give up politics if anybody comes up with a shred of evidence”. PTI NAC BDC
