Gaurav Khanna has defended his father, Vinod Khanna’s, comment about wanting to slap Farrhana Bhatt. In a recent interview, the Bigg Boss 19 winner explained that his father made this comment over Farrhana’s
‘TV’ remark. Gaurav argued that while he chose not to react to it, his father lashed out at Farrhana because “that’s simply how elders are”.
“That’s simply how elders are. Parents behave that way because they see everyone as their own child. Just like at home, when two kids argue, a mother doesn’t always scold directly—it’s more about context rather than being blunt. People can find fault in anything,” Gaurav told ETimes.
“When contestants spoke against me, whether inside the house or after stepping out, I chose not to react to what they say. That’s their perspective, and I respect it. If in their view they deserved to win, that’s fine. Be happy with that belief. After all, they also received a massive platform, and I never stood in their way. So how can I question the elders? Everyone is entitled to their opinion,” the actor added.
What Did Gaurav Khanna’s Father Say?
In a recent interview, Khanna’s father slammed Farrhana’s TV remark and called it derogatory. He mentioned that while he was angry with the comment, he was glad that Gaurav handled the situation nicely inside the Bigg Boss 19 house.
“There were also contestants like Zeishan Quadri and Abhishek Bajaj who were very aggressive, and there were many fights between them and Gaurav. But I knew Gaurav would manage things on his own, because inside that house, no one can help you; you must stand for yourself,” Gaurav’s father told IANS.
“I did get very angry when Farrhana Bhatt mocked him and called him a ‘superstar’ in a demeaning way. She questioned his work and his career as a TV actor. That upset me a lot,” he continued and then added that he would have slapped Farrhana if he was in his son’s place.
“At that moment, even Gaurav’s anger was visible; his throat veins were popping. If I had been there, I don’t know what I would have done. I might have even slapped Farhana,” Gaurav’s father said.
Farrhana Bhatt Clarifies Her Comment
Meanwhile, Farrhana recently claimed that her words were interpreted out of context and told SCREEN, “I have no issues with television. I was on TV, and I couldn’t explain to everyone who questioned me, so I avoided speaking up. I thought people would gauge it, but it got perceived in another way. My very first experience on TV wasn’t very great. I was not respected the way I wanted to.”
“That comment was specifically for Gaurav Khanna. I still believe he was playing a character throughout the season, so I told him that he was thinking he was the star of TV, but needed to look at himself. You show very high morals and principles on the weekend episode, but when you see that someone is being treated badly, and because you are not friends with that person, you won’t stand up for that person, then your principles are shown,” she added.
