THK is a pioneer manufacturer boasting the world’s top market share in linear motion guides (“LM Guide”). Its products have been widely adopted as core components in machine tools, industrial robots and other equipment, broadly contributing to society.
Amid the ongoing global restructuring of supply chains, India is rapidly boosting its presence as a manufacturing and development hub for automobiles, electronics, industrial machinery and more. This backdrop has prompted THK to step up its business expansion in India, and THK India opened a new plant within the Sri City industrial park in November 2021. NX India has been fully entrusted with the job of operating and managing the distribution center (“DC”) established within this plant as well as carrying out on-site logistics operations to enhance on-site logistics efficiency and bolster export capabilities in line with increased production.
This approximately 8,000 m2 DC handles THK’s mainstay products: the LM Guide, ball screws and related components. NX India will manage all operations within the facility, from receiving, storage, shelving and on-site transfer to domestic distribution within India. This integrated approach will enhance logistics efficiency and help establish a stable product supply system.
The opening ceremony was attended by THK President and CEO Takashi Teramachi, THK India President Yusuke Mizuno, and representatives from Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd., which handled the DC construction. President Teramachi spoke to the audience about the new facility’s role and prospects going forward: “The 21st century is often called ‘India’s century.’ With the country enjoying sustained high economic growth and pursuing a ‘Make in India’ policy, its market is expected to expand significantly in the future. THK India plays an extremely important role in aiding the THK Group to capture this growth. We will position this DC as an export hub that leverages its advantageous access to Europe and Southeast Asia as well as to an Africa full of future growth potential, and we will ensure its efficient operation.”
Attending on behalf of the NX Group, NX Group India Representative Teruaki Nagoya stated: “As a logistics partner, we will prioritize safety above all else and strive for continuous improvement in service quality so as to contribute to the THK India Sri City DC’s efficient operation and business growth.”
The NX Group will continue expanding its global logistics network to support its customers’ supply chains.
