The launch of The Traitors India Season 2 was all about the new contestants, but it was Karan Johar’s comments that got everyone talking. While promoting the upcoming season in Mumbai, the filmmaker-host made a few witty remarks that many felt were aimed at rival reality shows.
Talking about his role as the host this season, Karan said he won’t be taking it easy on the contestants. “My reputation precedes me. I won’t be forgiving. I’ll definitely be more ruthless. But we will never forget to be entertaining,” he said.
Karan also shared that the new season will be full of strategy, betrayal and unexpected twists, making the game even more exciting for viewers. One comment, however, stood out the most. While speaking about the show’s format, he said,
“Unlike other shows, the winner won’t be a hack.” Although he didn’t mention any reality show by name, many believed it was a subtle dig at the competition.
Towards the end of the event, Karan made another light-hearted remark that quickly caught everyone’s attention. Speaking about Prime Video, he joked, “Prime Video is someone we love and we adore. And all I can say is that when we get locked up with Prime Video, there will always be an Alliance.”
His use of the words “locked up” and “Alliance” led many to believe he was making a playful reference to Netflix’s Lock Upp and Prime Video’s The Alliance.
The Traitors India Season 2 will start streaming on Prime Video from August 13. The second season was shot during March and April at the grand Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
