All We Imagine As Light’s Achievements Worldwide
With its poetic storytelling and stunning visuals, the film has earned international acclaim. The film made history by becoming the first Indian film in three decades to compete in the main competition at Cannes since 1994. All We Imagine As Light premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May 2024 and bagged the prestigious Grand Prix, setting high expectations for the awards season.
During her acceptance speech at the event, Payal Kapadia said, “It’s three women who have given me so much and really contributed to the film like a family and made it their own. So, thank you, ladies. I’m very nervous, so I wrote something down. Thank you very much to the Cannes Film Festival for having our film here. Please don’t wait 30 years to have another Indian film.”
At the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, Payal Kapadia’s film received a nomination for Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language. However, it lost out to Emilia Perez, who took home the award once again.
