India’s Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, is in Adelaide these days, where he is set to lead the Indian team in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Australia on Thursday (October
23). Ahead of the must-win match at Adelaide Oval, Gill, while taking a stroll through the streets of Adelaide, met with a fan, who, after shaking hands with him, chanted “Pakistan Zindabad.”
Gill was surprised with the fan’s unexpected reaction post handshake, and the clip of this incident is now going viral on the internet.

Gill, who replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of India’s ODI team on October 4, played three matches against Pakistan in the Asia Cup last month. In the three matches against the Salman Ali Agha-led side at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 14, 21 and 28, respectively, Gill registered scores of 10, 47 and 12 runs.
Despite Gill failing to cross the 50-run mark in any of the three matches, India managed to get the better of Pakistan on all occasions.
2nd ODI at Adelaide Oval
The second ODI of the ongoing series between India and Australia will be played in Adelaide on Thursday. The match at Adelaide Oval is a must-win for Team India after they went down by 7 wickets in the series opener played at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday (October 19).
In the first ODI, Gill could only manage to score 10 runs from 18 balls. The 26-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab would like to come up with a big show with the bat on Thursday and help the visitors level the series.
In addition to Gill, there will also be high expectations from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. In their first competitive match for India after more than 224 days, Kohli got out for an eight-ball duck, whereas Rohit added only 8 runs to India’s total from 14 balls.
