The Karnataka State Cricket Association has revealed that the State Home Department has officially granted it conditional permission to host high-profile matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The clearance comes as a major relief for RCB fans, with the decision effectively ending a period of uncertainty regarding the stadium’s eligibility to host major global tournaments after a stampede there caused the deaths of 11 people in June 2025.
The approval specifically covers the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League and several high-stakes international fixtures, including matches for the T20 World Cup.
While the Home Department has given the go-ahead, the permission is strictly contingent upon the KSCA’s adherence to a set of stringent security
and safety guidelines. These protocols are designed to ensure the well-being of thousands of spectators and the smooth conduct of events, requiring the association to implement robust crowd management strategies and meet specific infrastructural standards set by the authorities.
With permission given for hosting T20 World Cup and IPL matches, the KSCA has provided official confirmation regarding the receipt of the permit and has expressed its commitment to following the government’s directives.
The state cricket association in a statement said, “KSCA is confident of fulfilling all the stipulated conditions. The Association has already presented a detailed compliance roadmap before the Expert Review Committee and remains fully committed to implementing all safety, security, and crowd-management measures in letter and spirit.”
