Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026. Featuring a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, and others, the mythological epic sent excitement soaring after its much-awaited trailer was unveiled on July 30 at 4:15 AM. Since the trailer was released online, social media has been filled with divided opinions and mixed reviews. Now, Ramanand Sagar’s grandson, Shiv Sagar, has weighed in on the ongoing discussion and heaped praise on the trailer.

by Ranbir Kapoor and the entire cast. While speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he expressed hope that audiences will embrace Ranbir in the role of Lord Rama. He said, “I quite liked it, to be honest. In the earlier promotional asset, I felt that the quality of the graphics did not match the scale of the budget. However, after watching the trailer and seeing the ensemble cast, I am impressed. I thought Yash looked brilliant as Ravana. Sai Pallavi, too, suits the character of Sita, especially in the way she speaks and articulates herself. Overall, I think it looks very grand.”
Shiv said he believes Ramayana has been crafted with a global audience in mind. He expressed hope that the film would introduce Indian mythology, culture, and fantasy to viewers across the world. According to him, if it succeeds in expanding the global reach of Indian storytelling, it would mark a major milestone not just for the film, but for Indian cinema as a whole. He further added, “Even the way Pushpak Viman has been conceived is praiseworthy. I also liked Surpanakha’s (Rakul Preet Singh) entry on the tiger chariot. I only hope that Ranbir Kapoor is accepted as Rama, and I wish him luck. After Animal (2023), people may have formed a certain image of him. At the same time, with the ensemble cast and the grand visual experience, the film might go down well with the audience.”
The highly anticipated film is made in two parts, with Part 1 scheduled to hit theatres on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali 2027.
