The Ishan Kishan-led East Zone broke a 13-year jinx on Thursday to bag their third Duleep Trophy title, after defeating South Zone on a first-innings lead at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
But long before the teams shook hands at 2.10 pm to signal a draw, East had already bagged the trophy, piling up a mammoth 708 in their first innings to take a commanding 372-run lead.
On that note, let us take a look at the last East Zone team to win the Duleep Trophy, in 2012-13 and find out where its members are now.
Dheeraj Jadhav: The Maharashtra-born Jadhav represented his home state from 1999 to 2007 before joining Assam under BCCI’s ICL amnesty scheme in 2009-10. He spent six seasons with Assam, leading the team and helping them earn promotion
to the top tier.
Jadhav opened for East Zone in the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final, scoring 25 and two. He moved to Goa in 2015-16 and played his final first-class game that November. He now runs a cricket academy in Pune.
Natraj Behera (c): He spent nine seasons with Odisha and led East Zone to their second Duleep Trophy triumph. He opened alongside Jadhav and scored 22. After playing his final first-class game in November 2017, Behera went on to serve as Chairperson of the Odisha Junior Men’s Selection Committee and also featured in a tennis cricket league in Bhubaneswar.
Anustup Majumdar: He made his Bengal debut in 2004 and remains active, with 2026 marking his 22nd year in first-class cricket. Majumdar batted at No. 3 in the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final but managed just 13 runs and picked four wickets in Central Zone’s first innings.
Majumdar also featured in Bengal’s 2025-26 Ranji Trophy semi-final against Jammu and Kashmir, scoring 14 and 12. Across 103 first-class games, he has amassed 5,962 runs at an average of 41.4, including 18 hundreds.
Ishank Jaggi: The Chhattisgarh-born cricketer made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in 2008 and played his final game in 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic brought cricket to a halt.
Jaggi was named Player of the Match in the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final after scoring a match-winning hundred. He finished with 5,600 runs in 90 first-class games at an average of 42.1, including 19 hundreds.
In June 2026, Jaggi guided the Chhota Nagpur Royals to the Jharkhand T20 League title as head coach.
Iresh Saxena: The Haryana-born cricketer made his first-class debut for Bengal in 2008 and played his final game in 2015. He batted at No. 5 in the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final, scoring 16, but made a bigger impact with the ball, claiming a five-for in Central Zone’s first innings.
Saxena finished his career with 122 runs in 27 first-class games at an average of 4.51, along with 66 wickets. The spinner was among the few bowlers to dismiss Virat Kohli stumped in domestic cricket, achieving the feat in 2008.
Saxena later ventured into overseas cricket, turning out in the Herts Premier Cricket League in Hertfordshire in 2025.
Saurabh Tiwary: He made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in 2006 and played his final game in 2024. He batted at No. 6 in the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final but was dismissed for a four-ball duck.
Tiwary ended his career with 8,076 runs in 116 first-class games at an average of 47.22, including 22 hundreds. He now serves as the secretary of the Jharkhand Cricket Association.
Biplab Samantray: He made his first-class debut for Odisha in 2010 and was still part of the team in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy. He batted at No. 7 in the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final but was dismissed for a four-ball duck.
Samantray has scored 4,378 runs in 94 first-class games at an average of 29.78, including seven hundreds.
Shiv Gautam (wk): He made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in 2009 and played his final match in 2016. He batted at No. 8 in the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final, contributing a crucial 34.
Gautam finished with 1,730 runs in 40 first-class games at an average of 33.26, including two hundreds. He now coaches at the Sonnet Cricket Academy in Ranchi and was also head coach of the Jamshedpur Steelers in the 2026 Jharkhand Premier League.
Basant Mohanty: He made his first-class debut for Odisha in 2007 and played his final match in 2023. In the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final, Mohanty dismissed Robin Bist, with Majumdar and Saxena taking the other wickets.
Mohanty finished with 403 wickets in 105 games at an average of 20.97. He has since moved into coaching and also featured in a tennis cricket competition earlier this year.
Ashok Dinda: He made his first-class debut for Bengal in 2005 and played his final match in 2019. In the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final, Dinda returned figures of 17-5-42-0.
He finished his career with 420 wickets in 116 games at an average of 28.28. Dinda is now the Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Textiles and Agriculture Marketing in West Bengal.
Alok Mangaraj: He made his first-class debut for Odisha in 2011 and played his final match in 2016. In the 2012-13 Duleep Trophy final, Mangaraj returned figures of 10-5-10-0.
He finished his career with 50 wickets in 22 games at an average of 33 and announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2021.
