Chennai, Aug 11 (PTI) A young boy in police attire caught the attention of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay at an event here on Tuesday, prompting the CM to salute him.
Noticing the kid in police uniform during the Drug-Free Tamil Nadu campaign and mass pledge-taking ceremony here, Vijay called him up and lifted the boy on to his shoulder. He later placed him on the stage and saluted the “little police officer” in a heartwarming gesture, which evoked spontaneous applause from the audience.
The boy is the son of Ramanathapuram Superintendent of Police, G Chandeesh, who received the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for preventing drug smuggling.
CM Vijay stood for a photograph with the boy and his father before resuming the event.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Police Medals to 15 police officers and personnel for their service in eradicating drug production, illicit trafficking and securing conviction to the culprits.
