Mumbai Weather News: After days of scorching temperatures, parts of Maharashtra could see some respite as pre-monsoon activity strengthens across the state. According to weather forecasts, rain-bearing systems are becoming more active, although heatwave conditions are expected to persist in several districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow rain alert for all districts in the Konkan region, while yellow heat alerts remain in place for some parts of the state. The changing weather pattern is expected to bring a mix of rainfall, thunderstorms and hot, humid conditions across different regions on June 15.
Konkan To See Heat And Rain
According to a report in India.com, the Konkan belt is likely to experience a combination of heatwave conditions
and pre-monsoon showers. According to the IMD forecast, Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts are expected to remain under the influence of hot weather during the day, with light rainfall likely after the afternoon.
Sindhudurg district could also receive light showers, while the entire Konkan region remains under a yellow rain alert.
North Maharashtra Forecast
Weather conditions are expected to vary across North Maharashtra. Dhule district is likely to remain dry, while Nandurbar and Jalgaon could witness hot and humid conditions at isolated places.
Light rainfall has been forecast for Nashik and Ahilyanagar districts, offering some relief from the prevailing heat.
Rain And Thunderstorms Across Western Maharashtra
Pune district is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall during the day.
Meanwhile, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts could witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. The IMD has issued a yellow rain alert for these districts as unstable weather conditions are expected to continue.
Mixed Weather Across Marathwada
In the Marathwada region, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna districts remain under a yellow heat alert as temperatures are expected to stay high.
Light rainfall is likely in Parbhani and Hingoli districts, while Beed, Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv could receive light to moderate showers. No weather alert has been issued for Akola district.
Heatwave And Thunderstorm Alerts In Vidarbha
Vidarbha is expected to experience contrasting weather conditions. Heatwave conditions are likely in Amravati, while thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds may affect Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha and Yavatmal districts.
The weather department has indicated that heatwave conditions could extend to some parts of the region even as thunderstorm activity develops. No alerts have been issued for Washim and Buldhana districts.
Goa Issues Monsoon Safety Advisory
As the southwest monsoon advances, authorities in neighbouring Goa have urged residents and tourists to exercise caution around beaches and water bodies.
Drishti Marine, the state’s designated lifesaving agency, has advised people not to venture into the sea during the monsoon season, warning that rapidly changing weather conditions can make the waters dangerous. Swimming in the sea and coastal water sports activities have been prohibited during this period.
To enhance public safety, more than 450 trained lifesavers and beach marshals have been deployed across 54 beaches in Goa, including 30 in South Goa and 24 in North Goa. Rescue personnel have also been stationed at Mayem Lake, Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Savri Waterfall and Mhovacho Guno to respond to emergencies.
