With Bigg Boss 20 set to begin on Sunday, September 6, former contestant Tanya Mittal has found herself revisiting memories from her own stint on the reality show. The Bigg Boss 19 contestant shared a clip from the season’s Media Day and penned a lengthy note about an experience she says left her deeply upset at the time.
“As Bigg Boss shuru ho raha hai kal se, pata nahi kyun itni saari yaadein ek saath dimaag mein daud rahi hain,” Tanya wrote.
Tanya Mittal Recalls Bigg Boss Media Day
Tanya described the media round as a day she could never forget. By then, she had spent more than 90 days inside the house and felt that the other contestants were against her. When she learnt that journalists would be entering the house, she was initially excited.
“Aaj Mumbai ki media mujhse milne aa rahi hai,” she recalled thinking.
That excitement, according to Tanya, disappeared once the questioning began. She particularly remembered the reaction she received after saying “Jai Shri Ram” and felt that the manner in which several questions were put to her was harsh.
“Lekin jo hua, uske liye main bilkul tayyar nahi thi. Aaj bhi yaad hai… mere ‘Jai Shri Ram’ bolne par hansna, mere upar tanz kasna. Sawal sahi ya galat nahi hote, unhe poochne ka tareeka hota hai. Aur us din har sawaal aisa lag raha tha jaise mujhe samajhne ke liye nahi, mujhe giraane ke liye poocha ja raha ho,” she wrote.
‘I Felt Like Everyone Hated Me’
Tanya said the experience made her believe that everyone outside the house hated her. After returning inside, she recalled crying and questioning what she had done to receive such a reaction.
She also claimed that viewers did not see everything that happened during the interaction because portions of the media round were not included in the televised episode.
“Aap logon tak jo episode pahunchta hai, woh edit hokar aata hai. Shayad aap nahi jaante ki us media round ka ek hissa telecast bhi nahi hua tha. Bahut saari baatein rok di gayi thi. Mahaul itna bhaari tha ki Bigg Boss ko bhi beech mein intervene karna pada,” Tanya wrote.
Tanya Says The Experience Changed Her
Looking back, Tanya said her time inside the house made her understand how different the experience can be for a contestant compared with what eventually reaches television screens.
She added that the isolation and criticism also changed the way she viewed disagreement. Tanya said she learnt that someone disagreeing with her did not necessarily mean they hated her, while standing apart from others could sometimes leave a person feeling lonely.
Reflecting on what the difficult episode taught her, Tanya wrote that words can “bana bhi sakte hain aur tod bhi sakte hain.”
She said the experience eventually made her “thodi aur soft,” “thodi aur empathetic” and “thodi aur samajhdaar.” According to Tanya, some of life’s most important lessons can come through pain rather than love.
Her post comes just before Bigg Boss 20 begins on September 6, bringing back memories of the scrutiny and emotional pressure she experienced during her own season.
