Sanjay Mishra Reminisces NSD Days, Recalls Watching Irrfan Perform: 'Yeh Adam Acting Kab Karega?'

Vadh 2, one of the most awaited sequels of 2026, is slowly moving closer to its theatrical release. Starring Neena Gupta and Sanjay Mishra, the film has drawn strong interest since its trailer was released,

with audiences responding to its actor-led storytelling. As part of the film’s promotions, Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta and Kumud Mishra recently visited the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi. All three are alumni of the institute and were warmly welcomed by students, teachers and theatre enthusiasts. The visit turned into an emotional homecoming, filled with memories of their early days in theatre. During the interaction, Sanjay Mishra spoke about his time at NSD and how those years shaped him as an actor. He recalled learning simply by watching his seniors perform and rehearse, and spoke with particular affection about the late Irrfan Khan, whom he admired deeply during his student days.

Speaking about his experience, Mishra said, “I don’t even know what I learned or didn’t learn at NSD, but what I truly had were people like Irrfan bhai. You could simply watch him. Virendra Saxena was there, Ankur ji was there, Robin Das is sitting right in front of you today while you’re busy looking at your mobile phones. Just watching them was a lesson in itself. Anup da as well these were people you kept observing. I remember once thinking, while Irrfan bhai was performing, ‘When will this man start acting?’ That’s the level at which he was playing the game.”

Written and directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vadh 2 sees Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta in entirely new roles while retaining the emotional and philosophical depth of the original.

The film was screened at the 56th IFFI 2025. A Luv Films presentation, Vadh 2 is written and directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 6th February 2026.
