'Must Say, Today Was...': Sachin Tendulkar's Pictures With Lionel Messi Go Viral

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, on Sunday, December 14, met Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi during the latter’s GOAT India Tour at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the pictures of which, shared by the former on his social media handles, have gone viral.

On the third leg of his four-city GOAT India tour, Messi spent an hour at the Wankhede Stadium, interacting with young footballers, Tendulkar, Indian football icon Sunil Chhetri and multiple celebrities from the entertainment world.

Messi, along with his Inter Miami teammates Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul, walked out to the field after Tendulkar had arrived around 5:45 pm.

“Must say, today was a 10/10 day @leomessi 😉,” Tendulkar posted on his Instagram handle.

Perhaps for the first time, the iconic chants of ‘Sachin… Sachin,’ which have echoed countless times around the Wankhede even in his absence, were drowned out as the crowd roared loudest for ‘Messi… Messi’ on the day.

But the decibel levels of the iconic ‘Sachin… Sachin’ chants surged back to their peak when the batting legend was later called on to share the stage with Messi in the evening.

“I have spent some incredible moments here. Several dreams have seen the finish line on this very venue. And without your support, we would never have seen those golden moments on this ground in 2011,” Tendulkar said.

“And today, having all three of them here is indeed a golden moment for Mumbai, Mumbaikars and India. When it comes to Leo, what do you talk about him? He has achieved everything,” Tendulkar added.

While the batting legend, CM Devendra Fadnavis, former AIFF president Praful Patel and Bollywood stars such as Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff took their seats in the vacant area in front of the sight-screen at the Garware Pavilion bowling end, Messi, Suárez and De Paul got down to business on the field.
