The Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC), embroiled in an alleged paper leak, has postponed the examination initially set for October 12. UKSSSC Chairman GS Martolia announced on Friday that the exam for technical posts in the Agriculture Department, scheduled for October 12, has been deferred, reported PTI.
Martolia noted that the commission has not yet started issuing admit cards to candidates, and the exam will no longer occur on the planned date. About 600 candidates were expected to appear for this examination for 20-25 posts.
Earlier, the UKSSSC examination scheduled for October 5 for 45 posts of cooperative inspector class II and assistant development officer, cooperative, was also postponed. The commission cited
requests from candidates and the need to enhance preparations as reasons for the delay.
The chairman assured that a new schedule for the postponed examinations would be announced soon.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami decided to cancel the Patwari recruitment exam held on September 21. This decision followed the release of a single-member inquiry report that revealed numerous irregularities. The recommendation to cancel the exam was made in response to demands from the youth.
As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the authorities apprehended the accused and established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly review the entire examination process once the issue emerged.
To address youth concerns and counteract disruptive elements, Dhami met with students and assured them that a CBI investigation would be conducted, and all their legitimate demands would be fulfilled. He emphasised that the state government has implemented India’s strictest anti-cheating law to ensure transparency in the recruitment process and curb cheating mafias.
In the paper leak case, police reported that the main accused, Khalid Malik, admitted during interrogation that he had hidden his mobile phone inside the exam centre a day before the test. He allegedly used the phone to photograph three pages of the question paper and sent them to his sister from the washroom.
