Rhea Chakraborty has opened up about finally being cleared in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, years after she found herself under intense scrutiny following the actor’s death in 2020. Now appearing on The Traitors Season 2, Rhea referred to that chapter of her life while telling host Karan Johar why she would rather enter the game as an Innocent than a Traitor.
Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in a drug case linked to Sushant. The Central Bureau of Investigation later filed a closure report in Sushant’s death case and cleared Rhea of charges.
Rhea Chakraborty Says She Has Had Enough Of Being Under Suspicion
During The Traitors, Karan asked Rhea whether she would prefer to be an Innocent
or a Traitor in the game. Rhea had a clear answer.
“I want to be an innocent. Iss saal hi actually mujhe clean chit mila hain, iss saal hi logo ko pata chala hai ki mai innocent hoon. Bohot der tak shaq mein rahi hoon toh woh itna pasand nahi hai ab mujhe. Kaafi saal kar liya hai maine,” she said.
Translated, Rhea said, “I have got the clean chit this year itself. People have realised that I am an innocent. I have been under the doubt for a long time, and I don’t like that feeling. I have been there for years.”
Her response referred to the years of scrutiny she faced following Sushant’s death in 2020.
Rhea Chakraborty Was Arrested After Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death
Rhea faced a difficult period after the death of her former boyfriend. Apart from the investigations that followed, the actress also faced a social boycott and spent time in jail.
The Narcotics Control Bureau arrested both Rhea and her brother Showik in a drug case related to Sushant.
The CBI’s closure report in Sushant’s death case subsequently brought relief for Rhea as she was cleared of all charges.
Rhea has previously spoken about the effect the entire ordeal had on her mental health. In earlier interviews, she revealed that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following everything she experienced during that period.

Rhea is currently participating in the second season of The Traitors, a reality show built around suspicion, strategy and deception.
Contestants are divided into two groups, Innocents and Traitors. The Innocents have to work together to figure out the identities of the hidden Traitors and eliminate them before they themselves are removed from the competition.
The Traitors, meanwhile, secretly work against the other participants while ensuring that nobody discovers their identities.
As contestants participate in missions, suspicions also intensify during the Circle of Shaq discussions. Players must decide whom they can trust while trying to survive in the competition.
Who Is Participating In The Traitors Season 2?
The second season features several celebrities and popular personalities.
The line-up includes Aaditya Kulshreshth, popularly known as Kullu, Abhishek Malhan, Ansh Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha, Ikka Singh, Karan Singh Magic, Krystle D’Souza, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Parul Gulati, Prish and Ranveer Brar.
Rida Tharana, Sahil Salathia, Shahneel Gill, Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari, Soundous Moufakir and Tanya Puri are also competing this season.
The contestants will battle it out for the title and a cash prize while attempting to outsmart one another.
The Traitors Season 2 premiered on Prime Video in India on August 13. New episodes will arrive every Thursday.
