New Delhi, Sep 28 (PTI) The national capital experienced another pleasant day, with the city’s maximum temperature dropping to 28.7 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal for this time of year.
This comes a day after Delhi recorded the second-lowest September day in 25 years.
It was not the early onset of winter, however, the weather office clarified and said that the current spell of pleasant weather may end soon as temperatures are likely to steadily rise in coming days.
The minimum temperature at Safdarjung, the city’s primary weather station, was 23 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees below normal, and two degrees more than Sunday. The day temperature on Sunday was 30.6 degrees Celsius, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

and its adjoining areas have seen a drop in temperatures under the influence of a western disturbance and an upper air cyclonic circulation, which lies over northwest Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood. Both of these weather systems are usually associated with rainfall, resulting in cooler temperatures.
Delhi’s weather is likely to change soon, especially from October 1, when both minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be near normal at most places over Delhi. Maximum temperatures could be in the range of 33 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius, and minimum temperatures from 23 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
On Monday, the Ridge recorded the lowest maximum temperature among Delhi stations at 27.2 degrees Celsius, 7.7 degrees below normal, while its minimum temperature was 18.7 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees below normal.
At Palam, the maximum temperature settled at 27.7 degrees Celsius, 7.4 degrees below normal, while the minimum was 20.4 degrees Celsius, 3.1 degrees below normal. Lodhi Road recorded a maximum of 28.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22.3 degrees Celsius.
Traces to light rainfall was reported at several stations during the day. The Ridge received 2.2 mm, Palam 1 mm and Ayanagar 0.7 mm, while traces were recorded at Safdarjung and Lodhi Road.
Delhi’s 24-hour air quality till 4 pm was recorded in the ‘Satisfactory’ category on Monday with average air quality index (AQI) being clocked at 56, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies for Tuesday with minimum and maximum temperature likely to touch 22 and 32 degrees Celsius respectively. PTI VBH VBH SKY
