A Japanese traveller described India as a “hell-like country” after a 30-day visit, during which he travelled about 5,000 km. But what caught the attention of the internet was the money that the traveller spent during their trip. He said he spent only Rs 60,000 on a trip within the country.
In a post on X, the traveller shared a summary of his month-long journey after returning to Japan. From expenses and health issues to experiences in India, he listed everything that he went through during his 30-day trip. “Finally back in Japan! India was the worst hell-like country!” he said. “I’ll never go to India again!”
He Spent Rs 56,746 On His Month-Long Trip As per the post, he spent 95,000 Japanese yen (approximately Rs 56,746) during his stay, apart
from 80,000 yen (around Rs 47,800) on airfare. He travelled nearly 5,000 km across India, experienced an average temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, fell ill once after eating cut fruit and lost 3 kg during the trip. He also claimed to have lost his temper and shouted at Indians on three occasions.
The traveller later clarified that his actual expenditure within India was 81,000 yen (approximately Rs 48,400), rather than the initially reported amount. He also complained that much of his spending had gone towards Indians during the trip.
“You’re Challenging The Limits Of Survival”
His post has sparked a wave of reactions, with several social media users questioning how he expected to explore such a vast country on a limited budget.
“He spent only $1,000 on a 30-day trip, including flight tickets to India and 5,000 km of travel within India. Of course, it must have felt like hell, bruh. Next time, travel with a bigger budget,” a person said.
Another wrote, “95,000 yen for 30 days? Bro, this isn’t travelling; you’re challenging the limits of survival, aren’t you?”

An individual commented, “You spent ₹56,800 travelling across India for an entire month and expected a five-star experience? That’s roughly what we spend on a long-weekend couple’s getaway within India. And you expected an international holiday experience on that budget? Bro, you’re not being frugal; you’re just cheap!”
Someone else mentioned, “Plus, with the amount you spent, even America, China, and Japan would seem like hell to you. You beggar! Just 95,000 yen?”
Another individual remarked, “As a Japanese person living in India, I can’t stand it when these kinds of budget travellers skimp on visiting certain parts of India and then badmouth the entire country. When you travel abroad, please show respect to that country.”
