India had many popular street magicians, but most people today don’t know where many of them are or what they are doing now and one such name is Ugesh Sarcar. He once hosted a show called 3rd Degree on UTV
Bindass, which was very popular with young viewers. Recently, a content creator spoke about the magician’s journey and reminded people how important Sarcar was to modern street magic in India.
He shared that Ugesh was often connected with the famous magician PC Sorcar, although the two were not related. Ugesh’s father had even opened one of the first magic schools in India back in the 1980s. Ugesh himself earned titles like India’s Criss Angel and created the country’s longest-running magic show, which was later sold to Netflix. The creator also recalled watching him on TV. Despite appearing in more than 140 episodes, many feel, he never received the recognition he deserved.
Forgotten Street Magician Finds Attention Again
Taking to Instagram, the content creator shared, “I bet you forgot about India’s first street magician, his father even started one of India’s first magic schools back in the 1980s. Often confused with the legendary PC Sorcar, he actually has no relationship to him. I am talking about the great Ugesh Sarcar, he’s been called, the Chris Angel of India and till date, he has the longest standing magic show in India, which was later sold to Netflix.”
“I remember fondly watching a show on UTV Bindass, but never realised he had done ads for Tata Nano and Parle Full Toss. For someone who was on TV for more than 140 episodes, we surely haven’t given him credit, have we?” the content creator added.
In the caption, he wrote, “India has always been known for street artists and a niche history lane in magic, but do you remember the great Ugesh Sarcar from UTV Bindass?”

Another suggested, “Bigg Boss 20 comeback.”
“He was unique, but Indians did not give him due respect for his art,” a comment read.
A fan recalled, “Those current he used to give to people.”
“3rd Degree was a show I used to watch with my one eye closed… terrifyingly legendary,” read a comment.
A Magician Who Transformed Ads And Films
Ugesh Sarcar blended magic tricks with products like Parle Full Toss, Godrej Goldilocks, Tata Nano, Porsche, Somany Tiles and many others, giving each advertisement a unique touch. He even trained Shah Rukh Khan in hand flourishes for Don 2 and also worked as the Technical Director of Magic for Guzaarish, where he taught Hrithik Roshan how to move and act like a real magician and designed all the magic scenes in the film. His talent later took him to Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 3, where he became India’s first dancing magician.
